Schedule of 47 Cruise Ship Arrivals at Mackinac Island in 2024: All You Need to Know

MACKINAC ISLAND, MI – The 2024 cruise ship season is underway on Mackinac Island.
The first cruise passengers of the season stepped onto the island on Tuesday for a day visit, including a carriage tour and shopping. They came to shore by tender boat after the Viking Octantis anchored on Lake Huron.
At 665 feet long, the Viking Octantis is one of the largest cruise ships on the Great Lakes, along with its identical sister, the Viking Polaris. The two ships will call on the island multiple times through the season, including three times that they will anchor side-by-side.

The season will include a total of 47 cruise ship visits from eight ships: Pearl Seas Cruises’ Pearl Mist; Viking Cruises’ Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris; Ponant Explorer’s Le Bellot and Le Champlain; Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Hanseatic Inspiration; Compagnie du Ponant’s Le Ponant; and Plantours Kreuzfahrten’s MS Hamburg.
Smaller ships will dock while larger ones anchor offshore.

In 2023, the island had nearly 100 cruise ship visits. That number is halved this year with the bankruptcy of American Queen Voyages, which operated the Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager on the Great Lakes. Those two ships accounted for about half of the 2023 calls on the island.
