Cruise Ship Tragedy: Crew Member Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Three People with Scissors

A crew member of the Norwegian Cruise Line was apprehended in Juneau, Alaska on a Tuesday, following allegations of stabbing three individuals on the ship, termed Norwegian Encore.

As per an affidavit from FBI Special Agent Matthew Judy, the accused assaulted two security personnel and a lady with scissors.

The incident happened late on a Sunday night when fellow crew members noticed the accused attempting to launch a lifeboat from the ship.

Post witnessing this unusual conduct, the security personnel strived to escort the individual to the medical center for assessment.

While in the medical center aboard ship, sailing off Canada’s coast, a man made an attempt to escape the center. Reportedly, he assaulted a guard and a nurse, before rushing into an alternate room to seize scissors, which were later used as a weapon. The declaration made in the affidavit indicates the man stabbed a woman in the medical facility who was undergoing a medical examination, as well as stabbing two other guards trying to capture him. Thankfully, the injuries inflicted were not life-threatening.

As per news reports, the male individual, 35 years old, was a recent recruit by the cruise line. His initial day on board was on Saturday when the ship was anchored in Seattle.

The man was arrested while Norwegian Encore was visiting Juneau, Alaska. Before his arrest, the man was detained in “cruise jail”.

According to CruiseMapper, Norwegian Encore is currently on a 7-day round-trip sailing out of Seattle.
