Celebrating One Year at Sea: MSC Euribia’s Maiden Voyage Anniversary

MSC Cruises’ newest vessel celebrated its first anniversary of service in May.

The ship, powered by LNG, was constructed at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France and was delivered to MSC on May 31, 2024.

Before its inaugural commercial voyage, the MSC Euribia embarked on the first cruise with net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

MSC Cruises reported that the four-day journey from Saint-Nazaire, France to Copenhagen, Denmark utilized bio-LNG, which conserved 43 tons of conventional fuel.

The voyage allowed the 177,100-ton ship to exceed the performance of its digital counterpart—a computer-generated model simulating optimal energy usage and fuel consumption onboard.

This accomplishment stemmed from numerous energy-efficiency strategies such as perfecting speed profiles, navigation routes, ship trim, and engine settings, according to the cruise company.</mony.

After this successful trip, MSC Euribia was formally named in Copenhagen by Sophia Loren, the fleet’s godmother, with festivities featuring French DJ Bob Sinclair and Danish model Sarah Grünewald.

The launch event was marked by the traditional champagne bottle christening as well as live performances and speeches.

Subsequently, the vessel commenced its debut season with weekly voyages to the Norwegian Fjords.

The ship departed from Copenhagen and Kiel, Germany, offering itineraries that included stops in various Norwegian ports like Geiranger, Alesund, and Flaam.

Following its 2023-24 winter travel through Western Europe and England, the MSC Euribia has begun another summer season in the Norwegian Fjords.

In November, the ship plans to venture outside Europe for the first time, targeting a winter schedule in the Middle East.

Based in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, the ship will perform seven-night cruises to places in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain until early April 2025.
