Meyer Turku Delivers the Newly Built Mein Schiff 7 to TUI Fleet

The latest addition to TUI Cruises’ fleet, the Mein Schiff 7, was handed over today at the Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland as per a recent announcement.

This new 2,894-passenger ship now boasts the first methanol capability built by the shipyard, per a statement from Meyer Turku.

In the ceremony of the ship’s conveyance, Tim Meyer, the CEO, and Tom Degerman, the Head of Projects, represented Meyer Turku. On the other hand, TUI Cruises was represented by their CEO Wybcke Meier and CFO Frank Kuhlmann.

The construction of the Mein Schiff 7 marks it as the seventh installment from the same series crafted at the shipyard, accentuated by Meyer Turku.

“The steel cutting ceremony on June 14, 2022, marked the beginning of Mein Schiff 7’s construction,” noted CEO Tim Meyer.

“Delivering this vessel to TUI Cruises today, in less than two years, is a product of our longstanding and intimate collaboration,” he continued.

Innovatively, the Mein Schiff 7 operates entirely on marine diesel with low emissions, compliant with the most stringent sulfur content standards (0.1%).

The ship boasts a 111,500-ton capacity, a shore power connection, and is equipped with state-of-the-art catalytic converters, according to the shipyard.

Moreover, the configuration of Mein Schiff 7 includes operability on methanol, aligning with future prospects of utilizing green methanol to nearly negate CO2 emissions during propulsion.

“Acquiring this vessel is a monumental landmark for us. It recalls ten years since our acquisition of the first Blu Motion class ship at this same location, and by 2019, we had constructed six ships,” stated Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.

“Our gratitude goes to Meyer Turku for their remarkable partnership and their contributions towards enhancing our fleet of wellness-class ships. We are heading towards Kiel aboard the Mein Schiff 7, ready to onboard our first guests on June 12,” she concluded.
