Hurricane Ernesto Forces Itinerary Changes for Caribbean and Bermuda Travels

Ernesto, now a Category 1 hurricane with 85 mph winds, is causing modifications to the routes of several cruise ships in the Eastern Caribbean and Bermuda.

Among the affected cruise lines are Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival Cruise Line, all of which have confirmed adjustments to their sailing schedules.

Specifically, four ships from Royal Caribbean have been rerouted to evade the hurricane, including the Symphony of the Seas. This vessel, originating from Cape Liberty, has replaced its stop in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, with a new destination in Nassau, Bahamas.

The Rhapsody of the Seas, navigating the Southern Caribbean, now follows a reversed sequence for its ongoing journey.

Other impacted ships include the Icon of the Seas and the Liberty of the Seas. The Icon is now following an amended route in the Western Caribbean, whereas the Liberty has omitted a stop in Bermuda. Read more here and here.

From Miami, further itinerary updates include the Carnival Magic which has substituted its visit to Puerto Rico with a stop in Nassau. This ship also departed earlier than planned from Grand Turk due to the deteriorating weather.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Sky were also forced to divert from their planned Eastern Caribbean routes to alternative paths in the Western Caribbean.
