Cyclone Francine Forces Carnival Valor to Cancel Port Stop, Resulting in an Unexpected ‘Cruise to Nowhere’
CCL-Carnival Cruise Line‘s Carnival Valor had to abandon its planned stop due to the post-tropical cyclone Francine, essentially leading to a cruise to nowhere.
The ship made its way back to New Orleans (Port NOLA Louisiana) on Friday, September 13th, after being delayed by the weather.
The itinerary initially included a 4-day journey to the Western Caribbean with an excursion in Cozumel, but it was shortened by a day with the port visit canceled because of the cyclone. The Port of New Orleans, which had been closed due to the weather, reopened after Carnival Valor’s earlier delay.
Carnival has issued partial refunds for the lost day and will reimburse for Wi-Fi and beverage packages bought for that day. Additionally, guests will receive a $100 onboard credit, a 50% discount on a future cruise, and compensation for any flight change expenses.
