Excitement Aboard: Villa Vie Residential Cruise Guests Finally Set Sail!
The Odyssey of Villa Vie made its journey from the Harland & Wolff Shipyard to the Belfast cruise terminal on Monday evening. This event marked the boarding of around 100 guests after a delay of nearly five months in launching the residential cruise line initiative.
Next on the agenda is a substantially revised world cruise itinerary, with the ship set to make its first port of call in Brest, France.
The vessel may set sail as soon as Tuesday, heading towards Brest before crossing the Atlantic to visit Bermuda and the Bahamas.
In a video shared on social media on Monday, CEO Mike Petterson stated that the ship had received full clearance from DNV, the shipping classification society. He had previously remarked in a CNN interview about how they were applying a double standard in certification compared to its operations as the Fred. Olsen Braemar prior to the pandemic.
“It’s been quite a journey, and it’s difficult to express how it feels. We are here and will be setting sail soon,” Petterson remarked.
