Steering Issues Force Itinerary Changes for Silver Muse Cruise Ship

There is a steering problem affecting the Silver Muse during its ongoing cruise, which commenced in Hong Kong on October 15, 2024.

In a notice shared onboard the luxury vessel, Silversea confirmed the problem and has informed guests of alterations to the itinerary.

The cruise, originally planned as a six-night journey to Singapore, will no longer include any scheduled port visits.

Instead, the ship is now docked overnight in Hong Kong and will depart directly for Singapore on October 16 at 11:00 AM.

Previously, the cruise had a two-day stop in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, but now the ship will be at sea for four days before reaching its ultimate destination.

In its announcement, the company assured that, despite the steering issue, the Silver Muse remains safe and capable of sailing.

“We apologize for the unexpected changes and are dedicated to keeping you updated should there be any further changes to your itinerary as the situation evolves,” the company stated.

Guests on board will receive compensation in the form of a four-day prorated refund based on the original cruise fare.

“We take your trust seriously regarding the safety of your travel experiences and acknowledge that your journey has faced interruptions,” Silversea mentioned.

The company is also presenting guests with a four-day Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equivalent to the refunded amount.

Following its summer operations in Alaska, the Silver Muse repositioned to Asia in mid-September.

In early November, this 596-passenger ship is slated to reach Australia for a winter cruise season that will include departures from Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, and Melbourne, among other locations.

As the inaugural vessel in a series that also comprises the Silver Moon, launched in 2020, and the Silver Dawn, which debuted in 2021, the Silver Muse was constructed by the Fincantieri shipyard and commenced service in 2017.
