Marella Discovery 2 to Host Exclusive Solar Eclipse Cruise in the Mediterranean 2026
Marella Cruises, the UK cruise line under TUI, has revealed an exciting solar eclipse cruise slated for the summer of 2026.
On August 12, 2026, travelers will have the chance to experience a solar eclipse at sea, starting from Port Palamos in Spain. This voyage will showcase new itineraries and improved Cruise & Stay packages throughout the fleet, with bookings for summer sailings to open on October 17, 2024.
The solar eclipse cruise is included in the ‘Cosmopolitan Charms’ itinerary, which departs from Palma de Mallorca in Majorca, Spain on August 11, 2026. Marella Discovery 2 will visit several locations, including Palamos, Spain, Propriano, France, Civitavecchia-Rome, Italy, Salerno (with access to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast), and Palermo, Sicily, before returning to Palma. This special voyage is the first of its kind designed by Marella Cruises specifically for eclipse watchers.
Aside from the solar eclipse cruise, Marella Discovery 2 will launch a revamped ‘Jewels of the Mediterranean’ itinerary starting on May 12, 2026. This journey will commence in Palma and will feature stops at Olbia in Sardinia, La Spezia (for excursions to Portofino and Florence) in Italy, Villefranche, France (providing access to Monaco), Toulon (for the Cote d’Azur) in France, and Palamos before heading back to Palma.
Marella Cruises is commemorating its 30th anniversary with special sailings beginning on May 7, 2026, from Corfu, Limassol, Palma, and Dubrovnik.
Moreover, the cruise line has broadened its Cruise & Stay offerings, introducing 18 new hotel options in Cyprus, Croatia, Corfu, and Spain, raising the total number to 112 hotels. These packages will be accessible from 20 UK airports, enhancing convenience for travelers.
