Mitsui Ocean Cruises Unveils Exciting Onboard Entertainment Lineup

Mitsui Ocean Cruises has announced the entertainment schedule for its latest cruise vessel, the Mitsui Ocean Fuji.

As detailed in a recent press statement, the program will feature a variety of music, theater, comedy, dance, games, and enriching activities.

This lineup merges Funatabi—described by the company as wonderful encounters with Japanese culture—with contemporary performances to offer a diverse range of engaging experiences.

“The vibrant entertainment program of Mitsui Ocean Fuji has been crafted to bring joy, excitement, and cultural enrichment to our guests, filling the ship’s inviting spaces with music, artistry, and breathtaking performances,” stated Keiichiro Kawano, Hotel General Manager of the ship.

“We have fused traditional Japanese performing arts with modern acts to ensure our guests have a memorable experience.”

Mitsui Ocean Cruises highlighted that the centerpiece of the onboard entertainment on the Fuji will be the Ocean State, a versatile venue poised to host Broadway-style production shows.

The 45-minute performances will feature world-class singers and dancers, with choreography, costumes, and musical scores developed by Belinda King.

The program presents three primary performances, including La Danza, which is characterized as an international dance showcase that honors the beauty of dance.

Mitsui further detailed that the Midnight Hour aims to transform the Ocean Stage into a lively evening reminiscent of Chicago, with a performance honoring icons such as Elvis Presley, Peggy Lee, Bill Paul, and Booker T.

Completing the entertainment menu is Amour, which will celebrate romantic escapades through love songs featuring timeless hits from Stevie Wonder and Michael Bublé.

Under the Funatabi initiative, the Mitsui Ocean Fuji will also offer genuine experiences that highlight Japan’s local culture.

This includes Rakugo, a form of Japanese comic storytelling, which will be showcased in a solo comedy act, as well as storytelling workshops and an improv variety show involving both guests and crew members.

In addition, the ship will provide arts and crafts workshops, a selection of Japanese literature, and various lectures focused on Japan’s art, literature, history, and natural beauty.

Other scheduled activities comprise live music from numerous artists, themed events, sailaway parties, deck celebrations, and trivia hosted by crew members.

Currently being prepared for its launch in Japan, the Mitsui Ocean Fuji is set to embark on its inaugural cruise on December 1, 2024.

Notable entertainers featured on the new ship include singer Tokiko Kato and Rakugo performer Sanyutei Utayakko.
