Meyer Werft Delivers the Disney Treasure: A New Era of Family Cruising Begins

Meyer Werft has officially handed over the Disney Treasure to Disney Cruise Line, as announced in a recent press release from the shipyard.

The ship was completed ahead of schedule and is set to greet its first visitors in December, Meyer reported.

According to the German shipyard, the Disney Treasure boasts some of the most advanced and unique entertainment amenities in the cruise industry.

“We are excited to present the Disney Treasure to Disney Cruise Line today. This marks a significant milestone in our enduring partnership, and everyone at Meyer Werft has dedicated immense effort and passion to this project,” stated Meyer Werft’s CEO Bernd Eikens.

Eikens, along with Bernard Meyer and Thomas Mazloum, who is the president of Disney Signature Experiences, signed the handover documents.

“The Disney Treasure exemplifies our commitment to enhancing Disney cruising experiences for even more fans – today, we take another step towards unveiling this remarkable ship to the world,” Mazloum remarked.

“We are extremely grateful for our collaboration with Meyer Werft, and we eagerly anticipate a bright future as we continue to grow the Disney Cruise Line fleet,” he added.

The Disney Treasure is the most recent addition to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and marks the fifth Disney ship constructed by Meyer Werft.

As per the press release, the shipyard and cruise line have a rich history dating back to the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, which were delivered in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

Last year, the Disney Treasure’s sister ship, the Disney Wish, was transferred to the brand, marking the beginning of a new ship class.

The third ship in this series, the Disney Destiny, is presently being constructed in Papenburg and is expected to be delivered in 2025.

Recently, Disney Cruise Line and Meyer Werft announced that they will build four additional ships for the company, with delivery anticipated between 2027 and 2031.

Meyer Werft’s upcoming projects involve the delivery of ten cruise ships, a research vessel, and four offshore converter platforms, all scheduled to be completed by 2031.
