Port of Cork Wraps Up Successful Season with 190,000 Passengers Served

The Port of Cork Company (PoCC) wrapped up its 2024 cruise season with the arrival of the MSC Virtuosa on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024.

Throughout the season, the port welcomed a total of 103 cruise ships, which transported around 190,000 passengers.

Conor Mowlds, the chief commercial officer at the Port of Cork Company, expressed his gratitude by stating: “As we conclude this prosperous cruise season, I want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to its success. From our committed team at the Port of Cork to local businesses, tourism partners, and community members in Cobh and elsewhere, your efforts and warm hospitality have been vital in creating an unforgettable experience for the thousands of visitors who arrived in Cork. The cruise industry plays a significant role in the prosperity of the Irish tourism and hospitality sectors. Together, we have shown why Cork is a premier destination on the global cruise map.”

Toddy Stafford, president of Cobh and Harbour Chamber, remarked: “This year’s cruise season has been remarkable for Cobh and the nearby community. I want to acknowledge all the local businesses and residents for their dedication in making our town a delightful and welcoming destination. The influx of visitors has genuinely invigorated our community, and I’m looking forward to the future of Cobh. We eagerly anticipate 2025, continuing to enhance our offerings while ensuring Cork remains a leading travel destination for cruises.”

A standout moment of the 2024 cruise season was the arrival of the Disney Dream, the largest ship ever to dock at Cobh Cruise Terminal. This season also featured four inaugural calls, including Cunard’s Queen Anne.
