Bodrum and Marella Join Forces for a Meaningful Social Responsibility Initiative

Bodrum Cruise Port has partnered with Marella Cruises to launch a social responsibility project aimed at promoting environmental conservation and maritime education. The initiative kicked off with a beach cleanup at Giritli Teyze Beach, where high school students collaborated with the crew of the Marella Discovery to collect litter and enhance the local beach environment.

Following the cleanup, the participating students gained valuable insights through an educational experience at Bodrum Cruise Port. This included an overview of marina operations, customs-controlled areas, and an introduction to the work of Pilot Captains. The students also enjoyed a guided tour of the Marella Discovery.

Aziz Güngör, the regional director of East Med at Global Ports Holding, expressed gratitude to the Marella Discovery team for their dedication to educating young people about maritime and environmental stewardship, emphasizing the importance of preparing future generations to protect oceans and understand maritime operations.

Olivia Wells, sustainability manager at Marella Cruises, shared their excitement about the partnership, noting that initiatives like the beach cleanup support coastal environments while providing students with a glimpse into various maritime roles.

In collaboration with the Coast Guard Command, the Marella Cruises team and students attended a presentation about the "Yaşam" sea ambulance and emergency response operations at sea. Atilla Suyolcu, president of Bodrum Sea Rescue, provided insights into the management of maritime rescue missions in the region.
