Introducing Disney Treasure: DCL’s Third Ship Launching from Port Canaveral, Florida
Port Canaveral, Florida has officially welcomed Disney Cruise Line’s latest vessel, the Disney Treasure, making it the third Disney ship to be homeported there. The Disney Treasure joins the Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy in offering a variety of cruise experiences.
In a ceremonial exchange attended by local officials and the ship’s captain, the Disney Treasure’s arrival was celebrated as a significant event, marking its first entry into a U.S. port. With a weight of 140,000 tons, this LNG-powered ship is set to start its 7-day roundtrips from Port Canaveral beginning December 21, 2024. Its inaugural voyage will include stops at Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay in the Bahamas.
Disney Treasure is designed to enhance the cruising experience with themed dining and entertainment inspired by Disney classics, featuring options such as a dining venue themed after the movie Coco, an immersive show based on Moana, and adult-exclusive spaces like the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Families can also enjoy numerous activities, including a new water attraction and extensive children’s play areas.
The strategic choice of Port Canaveral as Disney Treasure’s homeport comes from its central location and capabilities to accommodate LNG-powered ships. The port has implemented specific safety practices and infrastructure to support these advanced vessels, making it an excellent base for Disney’s latest addition.
