Tourism Trinidad Kicks Off the Exciting 2024-25 Cruise Season!

Tourism Trinidad kicked off the 2024-25 cruise season with the arrival of the Nautica from Oceania Cruises at the Port of Spain Cruise Ship Complex on November 15, 2024. This inaugural event was attended by various representatives, including those from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts, the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Port of Spain City Corporation, marking a significant milestone for the cruise sector in Trinidad.

Cliff Hamilton, chairman of Tourism Trinidad Limited, expressed pride in the occasion, noting that the Nautica’s arrival reflects the strategic vision and hard work of Tourism Trinidad in enhancing the island’s profile in the global tourism market. He anticipated 20 cruise calls from 11 cruise lines throughout the season, emphasizing that six of those would be inaugural visits.

Hamilton highlighted the strategic initiatives taken by Tourism Trinidad, which have been instrumental in boosting the island’s visibility on the world stage. The organization has engaged actively in international trade shows, showcased Trinidad’s unique offerings online, established strong partnerships with global players, and ensured that the destination meets the expectations of international visitors.

A tour of the Nautica followed the launch events, concluding with a Traditional Crest Exchange Ceremony, a maritime tradition symbolizing goodwill and partnership. This ceremony involved the exchange of commemorative crests between the ship’s captain and local officials, representing the beginning of a collaborative relationship between the cruise line and Destination Trinidad.

Cornell Buckradee, CEO of Tourism Trinidad Limited, reinforced the economic benefits of each cruise call, pointing out that they present opportunities for growth, job creation, and exposure for local businesses, artisans, and taxi drivers.
