Celebrity Cruises Launches Homeporting Operations at Port Canaveral

Celebrity Cruises has officially commenced its first-ever homeporting season at Port Canaveral, marking a significant development in its operational strategy. The Celebrity Equinox has taken the lead as the 15th vessel now homeported at the terminal. After a trans-Atlantic journey that originated from Europe, the ship made its inaugural arrival in Port Canaveral on December 3, 2024.

The Equinox will embark on a three-night cruise to the Bahamas before kicking off a series of seven-night cruises starting that weekend. These cruises will be scheduled for Saturdays and will navigate through the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with destinations including St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, Belize City, Key West, Puerto Plata, and Costa Maya, running until late April 2025. Beginning in March, the itineraries will also feature a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Looking ahead, Celebrity Cruises plans to introduce a larger ship, the Celebrity Apex, for the 2025-26 season. This ship will provide a variety of seven-night cruises from Central Florida beginning in November 2025, continuing through late April 2026. The Apex will serve a range of destinations including the Bahamas, Key West, San Juan, Bimini, and the popular private destination Labadee in Haiti. Additionally, Celebrity has confirmed the return of the Apex for a second homeporting season during the 2026-27 winter.

Alongside Celebrity Cruises, Port Canaveral will also welcome Princess Cruises, which will begin its inaugural deployment in Central Florida for the 2024-25 season. The Caribbean Princess, which arrived at its new homeport in late November, will run a series of six- to eight-night cruises to the Southern and Eastern Caribbean, with expansion plans in place for 2025-26 with the addition of the Sky Princess.
