Jersey Government and DFDS Ferries Seal Long-Term Ferry Service Agreement

The Government of Jersey has finalized a 20-year agreement with DFDS Ferries to oversee ferry connections between the island and the UK and France, commencing on March 28, 2025. This long-term contract guarantees that DFDS will operate both passenger and freight services on routes connecting Jersey to Poole and Portsmouth in the UK, as well as Saint-Malo in France.

As part of the agreement, DFDS has committed to several enhancements for the ferry service, which include:

  • Increased sailing frequency to the UK and France during peak travel seasons.
  • Introduction of faster ferries operational on UK routes.
  • An investment in three new ferries by 2032.
  • Deployment of two dedicated high-speed ferries specifically for summer services.

Kirsten Morel, the Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, expressed optimism regarding the partnership, emphasizing that it will greatly enhance the quality of ferry services for local residents over the next twenty years.
