Passenger Airlifted from Crown Princess Cruise Ship off the Isle of Pines

On the evening of January 7, 2025, the Crown Princess, returning from Fiji to Australia, made an urgent medical evacuation request while approximately 210 nautical miles southeast of New Caledonia’s Isle of Pines. A passenger aboard required immediate medical attention, prompting the dispatch of a French Air Force Puma helicopter.

After consultations with the ship’s medical team, it was determined that the passenger needed to be transferred to Noumea for further treatment. The complex operation involved coordination between the Crown Princess and rescue teams, ultimately concluding successfully at 5:30 a.m. on January 8. The patient was then transported to Medipole Hospital in Noumea for advanced care.

The Crown Princess is currently on a 13-day roundtrip cruise from Sydney, themed "New Year," which began on December 29, 2024, and is scheduled to end on January 11, 2025.
