Portsmouth UK Unveils Record-Breaking Cruise Schedule for 2025

Portsmouth International Port has announced an impressive 2025 cruise schedule, featuring a record-breaking 94 cruise ships set to visit throughout the year, the highest in the port’s history. A key development for the year is the installation of the UK’s first shore power system, which allows multiple vessels to receive clean energy simultaneously. This move is part of the port’s long-term plan to achieve emissions-free operations by 2050.

Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, highlighted the port’s significance to the city, reporting that it generated GBP 9.2 million in profit, which supports local council services. Each cruise ship visit has substantial economic implications, with potential earnings of up to GBP 1.5 million for the city from passenger spending and berthing fees. Andrew Williamson, head of cruise and ferry operations at the port, reflected on the successes of 2024, highlighting the introduction of the new terminal, which processed more than 168,000 cruise passengers. The port was also recognized as the Best Port at the Wave Awards for the second year in a row. Looking ahead, Williamson is optimistic that 2025 will be even busier, with plans to continue enhancing service quality and developing long-term partnerships.

The 2025 cruise schedule includes both returning and inaugural calls. Regular features will include seasonal turnarounds by Fred Olsen and Saga Cruises, kicking off with Fred Olsen’s Borealis on January 4th for a Caribbean voyage. New ships visiting Portsmouth for the first time will feature brands like Silversea, Swan Hellenic, and Crystal. In July, Ritz Carlton’s superyacht Ilma is expected to embark on a maiden British Isles journey from Portsmouth.

Among the returning favorites, Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady will have multiple visits during the summer months, following a strong collaborative relationship that began with the port’s inaugural hosting of their ships in 2021.
