Passenger Airlifted from Crown Princess Near Isle of Pines: Emergency Medivac Details
On the evening of January 7, 2025, the Crown Princess, traveling from Fiji to Australia, made an urgent medical evacuation request while approximately 210 nautical miles southeast of New Caledonia’s Isle of Pines. A passenger aboard the ship required immediate medical attention, prompting the call for assistance.
In response, a French Air Force Puma helicopter was dispatched to the cruise ship. Following consultations between the ship’s medical staff and rescue authorities, it was determined that the passenger needed to be transferred urgently to Noumea for advanced medical care.
The complex operation, which involved coordination between the Crown Princess and the rescue team, was successfully executed by 5:30 a.m. on January 8. The patient was subsequently transported to Medipole Hospital in Noumea for further treatment.
At the time, the Crown Princess was on a 13-day roundtrip cruise from Sydney, NSW, themed around the New Year, which commenced on December 29, 2024, and is scheduled to conclude on January 11, 2025.
