Knife Attack Reported at Star Princess Construction Site in Fincantieri Monfalcone: What We Know

A violent incident occurred on January 20, 2025, at the construction site of the Star Princess, an LNG-powered cruise ship being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. A 28-year-old Bangladeshi plumber was injured during an altercation with a 24-year-old colleague, also from Bangladesh. The conflict escalated when the assailant used a 10-centimeter fruit knife, causing non-serious cuts to the victim’s arms, legs, and buttocks.

The injured worker was treated at San Polo hospital and later discharged. Local police apprehended the attacker on charges of aggravated assault. While the specific motive for the dispute remains unconfirmed, it is believed to stem from a personal disagreement, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Fincantieri, the shipyard’s parent company, has condemned the attack and emphasized their commitment to monitoring the situation closely.

The Star Princess is the second LNG-powered vessel being constructed for Princess Cruises and is expected to be delivered in 2025.
