Dominican Republic Gears Up for Inaugural Visit of Ambassador’s Ship Ambience
The Port of Sans Souci in the Dominican Republic is preparing for the inaugural visit of the MS Ambience cruise ship on January 25, 2025. Operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, the vessel will dock from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., accommodating up to 1,400 passengers.
Jean Luis Rodriguez, the executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), expressed optimism about the increasing success of the country’s ports, particularly in Puerto Plata, La Romana, and Cabo Rojo. Notably, Cabo Rojo is being positioned as a key tourist hub, capable of handling the OASIS-class vessels, the largest cruise ships in the world. The government is also focusing on a National Plan for Rehabilitation, Refurbishment, and Construction of Tourist and Fishing Docks to enhance the tourism infrastructure further, aiming to solidify the Dominican Republic as a leading destination for cruise tourism in the Caribbean.
January 2025 will witness increased cruise activity across various Dominican ports, including Taino Bay/Puerto Plata, Amber Cove, Sans Souci Terminal in Santo Domingo, and Catalina Island. The influx of cruise passengers is expected to significantly boost local commerce and tourism.
The January schedule features prominent vessels, such as MSC Seaside, Carnival Mardi Gras, Celebrity Apex, Norwegian Prima, and Independence of the Seas. However, it is important to note that weather conditions or route adjustments may affect the final itinerary.
