Ferry Services Suspended Between Isle of Wight and Southampton Amid Storm Herminia

Ferry services between the Isle of Wight and Southampton have been suspended indefinitely due to the impact of Storm Herminia. Red Funnel, the operating company, announced that both car and foot passenger ferry services are canceled because of adverse weather conditions, and they have apologized to passengers for the disruption.

The storm has been causing high winds and power outages across the southwest of England since January 26th. The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for wind and rain, worsened by the remnants of Storm Eowyn, which had already produced wind speeds of over 100 mph (160 km/h), being labeled "probably the strongest storm" to hit the UK in a decade.

These service cancellations follow prior disruptions to Red Funnel’s fast vessel service, which had already seen adjustments leading up to Storm Herminia’s arrival. Mariners and passengers are advised to keep an eye on updates from both Red Funnel and the Met Office as weather conditions continue to evolve.
