Celebrity Cruises Launches New River Cruise Line: 10 Boats Set to Sail by 2027
Celebrity Cruises has announced the launch of its new river cruise brand, Celebrity River Cruises, which will introduce 10 customized boats by 2027. This venture represents Celebrity’s entry into the river cruising market, with plans to operate in Europe along some of the most famous inland waterways.
The new brand will offer culturally immersive itineraries and aim to embody Celebrity’s renowned hospitality alongside its stylish design philosophy. The company is set to start accepting bookings later this year, promising "unforgettable experiences – The Celebrity Way."
According to Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, this move is strategically significant, given the increasing interest in river cruises among Celebrity’s guests. He noted that around half of their clientele have either tried or shown interest in river cruising, suggesting that this expansion aligns with the brand’s aim to enhance customer loyalty.
The forthcoming riverboats will incorporate design elements inspired by Celebrity’s EDGE-class ocean ships, focusing on unobstructed views to create a “360-degree breathtaking experience.” Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, expressed excitement about bringing the brand’s ocean travel excellence to river cruising. The new offerings will merge exceptional dining, world-class service, and sophisticated design, combined with enriching itineraries.
This initiative reflects Celebrity’s broader strategy to diversify its offerings, catering to the rising demand for more intimate travel experiences focused on destinations.
