
Medivac Operation: Crew Members Evacuated from Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess Off New Zealand
On January 30, 2025, while sailing from Brisbane to Auckland, the cruise ship Diamond Princess faced a medical emergency off the coast of New Zealand. A crew member sustained a serious eye injury that required immediate airlift evacuation.
The Northland Rescue Helicopter conducted the offshore winch rescue after being called by the Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ). The identity and role of the injured crew member have not been disclosed.
At that time, Diamond Princess was on a 14-day roundtrip cruise from Australia, having departed Brisbane on January 27, and was scheduled to return on February 10.
