Emergency Medevac: Crew Rescued from Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess Off New Zealand

On January 30, 2025, while sailing from Brisbane to Auckland, the cruise ship Diamond Princess encountered a medical emergency off the coast of New Zealand. A crew member suffered a serious eye injury, prompting an urgent airlift evacuation.

The operation was carried out by the Northland Rescue Helicopter, which was dispatched following a request from the Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ). The details regarding the injured crew member’s nationality or role onboard have yet to be made public.

At that time, the Diamond Princess was on a 14-day roundtrip cruise from Australia, having departed Brisbane on January 27 and scheduled to return on February 10.
