Thessaloniki Port Kicks Off the 2025 Cruise Season with Celebrity Infinity Arrival
On February 4, 2025, the Port of Thessaloniki in Greece officially kicked off its cruise season for the second consecutive year with the arrival of the Celebrity Infinity from Celebrity Cruises. The ship arrived with high occupancy and remained overnight, departing on February 5. Passengers were welcomed by representatives from the Region of Central Macedonia and the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, who provided informative materials about the destination alongside traditional local sweets.
Throughout 2025, the Celebrity Infinity is set to visit Thessaloniki 21 times, including eight overnight stays, allowing tourists to delve into the city’s rich culture, gastronomy, and attractions.
Thessaloniki’s cruise industry is experiencing robust growth, with 20 different ships from 14 major cruise companies adding the port to their itineraries. Notably, 10 vessels will make their inaugural calls at Thessaloniki this year. Among these is the Viking Star, making its first visit on February 6. In addition, ships like the Astoria Grande, Emerald Cruises, and Ritz Carlton will include Thessaloniki in their routes for the first time in 2025, showcasing a dynamic scheduling trend.
Athanasios Liagkos, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of ThPA SA, stated that Thessaloniki’s strategic positioning as a homeport provides direct access to remarkable global landmarks. He highlighted the diligent enhancements to services and infrastructure by ThPA S.A., reinforcing cruise companies’ trust in promoting Thessaloniki and its surrounding region as a prime cruise destination. In this regard, Crystal Cruises plans to recognize Thessaloniki as a homeport for the Crystal Symphony in 2025, emphasizing the commitment to offer exceptional experiences.
Thessaloniki’s strategic location and ongoing development continue to draw major cruise lines, cementing its role as a significant contributor to the Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean cruise industry.
