Thessaloniki Port Kicks Off 2025 Cruise Season with Celebrity Infinity Arrival

On February 4, 2025, the Port of Thessaloniki in Greece kicked off its cruise season for the second consecutive year with the arrival of the Celebrity Cruises ship, Celebrity Infinity. The vessel, which had a high occupancy rate, docked overnight before departing on February 5.

Local authorities, including representatives from the Region of Central Macedonia and the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, warmly welcomed passengers, providing them with destination guides and local sweets as part of their experience.

In total, Celebrity Infinity is expected to visit Thessaloniki 21 times throughout the 2025 season, including eight overnight stays. This schedule will allow tourists ample opportunities to experience the city’s rich culture and culinary scene.

The cruise sector in Thessaloniki is undergoing significant growth, with 20 different ships from 14 major companies set to include Thessaloniki in their itineraries. Notably, 10 of these ships will be making their inaugural visits to the port this year. For instance, the Viking Star from Viking Cruises is scheduled to make its first call on February 6. Other lines, such as Astoria Grande and Ritz Carlton, will also be including Thessaloniki for the first time in their itineraries.

Athanasios Liagkos, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of ThPA SA, highlighted that the Port of Thessaloniki serves as a homeport in a unique location with easy access to notable global attractions. He emphasized the continuous upgrades in services and infrastructure by ThPA S.A. as a driving factor that fosters trust among cruise companies, showcasing Thessaloniki and its region as an ideal cruise destination. In particular, Crystal Cruises will designate Thessaloniki as a homeport for the Crystal Symphony in 2025, further affirming its appeal.
