Celestyal Journey Sets Sail Again After €6.5 Million Refurbishment
Celestyal Journey has officially resumed its revenue operations after undergoing a significant refurbishment that cost €6.5 million. This dry dock refurbishment included enhancements aimed at improving both the ship’s performance and aesthetics. Key improvements made during the refit in Dubai include a new livery, a hull treatment using silicon-based paint, and upgrades to the engine designed to boost operational efficiency.
The ship, which can accommodate 1,260 passengers, has set sail from Doha, making stops in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Khasab, and Sir Bani Yas Island. It has scheduled two more departures from Doha on February 22 and March 1 and three additional sailings from Dubai on February 17 and 24, plus one on March 3. This additional sail was added to cater to the growing demand.
After its current season in the Gulf, Celestyal Journey is set to reposition to Piraeus-Athens to kickstart its summer schedule in Greece and the Mediterranean, with maintenance planned prior to its departure on April 12. The ship will return to the Arabian Gulf on December 6, with a schedule that includes participation in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Celestyal Cruises will also expand its fleet in the region with the introduction of Celestyal Discovery, which will embark on its inaugural Gulf season from Abu Dhabi on December 12.
Lee Haslett, Chief Commercial Officer, noted the strong demand for the Gulf itineraries, stating that the final three sailings from Doha have been fully booked. He emphasized that since the program’s launch, guest numbers have surpassed expectations by 35%, indicating an increasing interest in Celestyal’s unique mid-sized ships for exploring the region.
