Introducing RCI-Royal Caribbean’s Third ICON Vessel: Legend of the Seas
Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has officially unveiled the name of its newest ICON Class vessel, Legend of the Seas, which is poised to begin operations in Europe during the summer of 2026. After its debut in the Mediterranean, the ship will transition to year-round Caribbean cruises, with Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, serving as its home port starting in November 2026.
Legend of the Seas will be the third ICON ship to join the fleet, following the launch of its sister vessels, Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. Currently, it is under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
Initially, the ship will offer 7-night roundtrip itineraries from Barcelona, Spain, visiting prominent port cities across France, Italy, and Spain. During the winter of 2026, the vessel will reposition to the USA, where it will provide 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, each including a stop at the private island CocoCay, Bahamas.
Legend of the Seas will feature the innovative design characteristics of the ICON Class, with eight distinct neighborhoods, over 40 dining and beverage venues, and a variety of entertainment and recreational options. Notable highlights include the Crown’s Edge, an exhilarating combination of a skywalk, ropes course, and thrill ride; Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea; and seven pools, with Royal Bay being the largest pool on a cruise ship. There will also be an adults-only area called Hideaway, which features a suspended infinity pool, and Surfside, a neighborhood focused on younger travelers.
In line with Royal Caribbean Group’s commitment to sustainability, Legend of the Seas will become RCI’s fourth LNG-powered ship, incorporating environmental technologies such as waste heat recovery and shore power connectivity.
Booking for Legend of the Seas will be available soon, with members of Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society gaining early access ahead of the general sale on February 20th. Further details about onboard features and experiences will be provided in the months to come.
