CCL’s Celebration Key Resort in the Bahamas Nears Completion, Set to Open in July

Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) is close to completing its exclusive private resort, Celebration Key, in the Bahamas, with an official opening set for July 19, 2025. The construction is in its final phase, prompting a site visit from key leaders including CEO Josh Weinstein, Chief Maritime Officer Lars Ljoen, and CCL President Christine Duffy to assess the progress.

During the visit, they observed several significant construction milestones and the development of Celebration Key’s five themed areas, known as portals, intended to enhance guest experiences. A standout feature is the Suncastle, a 10-story building located in Paradise Plaza that will be home to waterslides and serve as the centerpiece for Starfish Lagoon, aimed at families and offering various recreational activities.

The resort will also include Calypso Lagoon—an adults-only area with a DJ island and swim-up bar; Pearl Cove Beach Club—offering a premium experience with an infinity pool and beachfront cabanas; and Lokono Cove—an artisan retail village showcasing Bahamian craftsmanship and culture.

Beyond construction updates, the leaders highlighted the resort’s sustainability efforts. They participated in the “Plant a Tree” initiative, which has led to the preservation and replanting of around 1,000 sabal palms across the site. Additionally, Duffy was involved in filling two expansive freshwater lagoons, touted as the largest in the Caribbean, which are sustained through a state-of-the-art desalination system that converts seawater into freshwater. These lagoons cover over seven acres and contain approximately seven million gallons of water.

Currently, about 500 workers are on-site daily as the resort prepares for its first guests when the Carnival Vista arrives on the opening day. Pearl Cove Beach Club will feature new accommodations such as beachfront daybeds, private cabanas, and exclusive Super Villas, all with open bar service, a full-service restaurant, and direct beach access.

With new itineraries available extending through 2027, Celebration Key is poised to become a prominent stop on hundreds of Carnival sailings, catering to guests from 20 different ships leaving from 10 U.S. homeports.
