Celestyal Journey Sets Sail Again After €6.5M Refurbishment: A New Era of Luxury Cruising

Celestyal Journey has resumed its operations after undergoing a significant refurbishment that cost €6.5 million. The drydock work aimed to enhance the ship’s performance and aesthetics, and took place in Dubai. Upgrades included a new exterior livery, a silicon-based hull treatment, and improvements to the ship’s engine for better operational efficiency.

The 1,260-passenger ship has restarted its service from Doha and is scheduled to visit several destinations including Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Khasab, and Sir Bani Yas Island. Following the current itineraries, Celestyal Journey has planned additional departures from Doha on February 22nd and March 1st, alongside three sailings from Dubai on February 17th and 24th, with an extra sailing on March 3rd to accommodate rising demand.

After the Gulf season, the ship will return to Piraeus-Athens to kickstart its summer schedule in Greece and the Mediterranean after some maintenance. It is set to return to the Arabian Gulf on December 6th, which will also include a sailing for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The fleet’s expansion continues with the introduction of Celestyal Discovery, which will commence its inaugural Gulf season from Abu Dhabi on December 12th. Chief Commercial Officer Lee Haslett indicated strong interest in Celestyal’s itineraries, noting that the last three sailings from Doha reached full capacity, with guest figures exceeding expectations by 35% since the program’s launch.
