Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas Conducts Heroic Maritime Rescue in the Gulf of Mexico

On February 26, 2025, the RCI-Royal Caribbean ship, Brilliance of the Seas, successfully conducted a maritime rescue in the Gulf of Mexico, saving 11 individuals from a distressed vessel located between Cuba and Mexico. The crew promptly rendered medical aid, food, water, and clothing to those rescued.

This rescue occurred during a 7-night Caribbean cruise organized by the LGBTQ+ vacation company VACAYA. The ship departed from New Orleans on February 22, with planned stops in Cozumel and Grand Cayman, and the incident took place while en route to Progreso. Due to the diligent observation of both passengers and crew, a coordinated effort was initiated to assist the distressed vessel.

Reports indicate that the ship’s rescue boat made several trips to transfer the rescued individuals onboard. Representatives from VACAYA mentioned the collaborative effort, noting that guests participated by providing dry clothing while the crew took care of the essential needs.

Currently, details regarding the condition of the rescued individuals remain undisclosed. Royal Caribbean is in touch with relevant authorities to facilitate further actions.
