Cruise Ship Hits Rough Waters: At Least 16 Injured During 14-Day Voyage

At least 16 people sustained injuries after the Crown Princess cruise ship encountered rough seas off the coast of New Zealand on February 25, during a 14-day voyage from Sydney, Australia. According to a cruise line representative, passengers experienced "minor injuries" as the ship was subjected to strong winds that caused it to tilt unexpectedly before stabilizing.

The crew acted swiftly to bring the situation under control, ensuring that safety protocols were followed throughout the incident. Among those injured were 13 guests and three crew members, all of whom have since been reported as recovering well. The ship’s Lido Deck pool briefly overflowed into the Horizons food court, but this was handled promptly, and there was no lasting structural damage to the vessel.

Videos shared online depicted passengers struggling to maintain their balance as tables slid across the floors, with one passenger describing the boat’s alarming lean. Another passenger recounted how they had to grip onto tables and chairs as the ship made sudden movements that dislodged items in the dining areas.

Despite the chaos, the cruise line assured that operations continued as planned and expressed gratitude for the understanding shown by the guests. The Crown Princess remained fully operational following the incident.
