Drew Barrymore to Christening MSC World America at Miami’s State-of-the-Art Cruise Terminal

MSC Cruises has designated Drew Barrymore as the godmother of its newest flagship, the MSC World America, with a naming ceremony set for April 9th at the recently opened MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, which is now recognized as the world’s largest cruise terminal. During the ceremony, Barrymore, who is featured alongside Orlando Bloom in MSC’s “Let’s Holiday” campaign from the 2024 Super Bowl, will participate in the traditional champagne bottle breaking against the ship’s bow through a special ribbon-cutting mechanism.

Barrymore shared her excitement about the honor, noting her passion for travel and the meaningfulness of christening a vessel intended for global exploration. Suzanne Salas, the Executive Vice President of Marketing for MSC Cruises USA, highlighted Barrymore’s sophistication and her advocacy for experiential travel as a perfect fit for the brand.

After the ceremony, MSC World America will set sail on a 3-night journey to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas, where the MSC Foundation will launch a Marine Conservation Centre to aid coral reef restoration as part of its Super Coral Programme and offer educational experiences for guests.

The MSC World America features seven themed districts, including The Harbour, an outdoor family-friendly area with amenities like a water park and an over-water swing ride. Onboard, guests can enjoy 18 bars and lounges, including the All-Stars Sports Bar and The Loft comedy venue, and 19 dining options, which feature the first seagoing Eataly restaurant and a Greek-inspired eatery called Paxos. A notable attraction is a three-level World Galleria and one of the longest dry slides at sea.

The ship’s inaugural season from Miami begins on April 12th, operating alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries that include stops at Ocean Cay and other ports such as Puerto Plata, Cozumel, and Nassau.
