MSC World America to Be Christened at PortMiami’s State-of-the-Art Cruise Terminal
MSC Cruises has named Drew Barrymore as the godmother of their new flagship, MSC World America. The christening ceremony is set for April 9th at the recently opened MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, the largest cruise terminal globally. Barrymore, along with her co-star Orlando Bloom from the MSC “Let’s Holiday” campaign, will participate in the traditional champagne bottle break against the ship’s bow using a ribbon-cutting mechanism.
In her statement, Barrymore expressed her excitement about the honor, emphasizing her love for travel and the meaningful role of christening a cruise ship that enables worldwide exploration. MSC USA’s Executive Vice President of Marketing, Suzanne Salas, highlighted Barrymore’s alignment with the company’s values, recognizing her sophistication and commitment to experiential travel.
Following the ceremony, MSC World America will set sail on a 3-night journey to Ocean Cay Bahamas, where the MSC Foundation will open a Marine Conservation Centre focused on coral reef restoration through its Super Coral Program, also providing educational opportunities for guests.
The ship features seven themed districts, including The Harbour, which offers an outdoor family area complete with a water park, over-water swing ride, and various dining options. Onboard, passengers can enjoy 18 bars and lounges, including the All-Stars Sports Bar and The Loft comedy venue, as well as 19 restaurants featuring the first seagoing Eataly and a Greek dining concept called Paxos. Notable attractions also include a three-level World Galleria and one of the longest dry slides at sea.
MSC World America will embark on its inaugural season from Miami starting April 12th, with alternating 7-night itineraries covering both Eastern and Western Caribbean destinations, including stops at Ocean Cay, Puerto Plata, Cozumel, and Nassau.
