Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas Set to Transition from Baltimore to Florida in 2024

Royal Caribbean has announced that its cruise operations will be relocating from the Port of Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting in late 2026 and running through at least April 2027. The cruise line’s Vision of the Seas ship will be among those operating from Florida during this period. Until then, Royal Caribbean will continue its existing cruise itineraries from Baltimore, with trips to popular destinations such as Bermuda, The Bahamas, Canada, and New England already scheduled for the remainder of the year.

A spokesperson from Royal Caribbean noted that while they cannot provide specifics on future deployments, they remain open to opportunities for returning to Baltimore in the future. Richard Scher, Director of Communications for the Maryland Port Administration, commented on the industry’s common practice of such relocations, emphasizing that Royal Caribbean has been a solid partner for many years. He also mentioned ongoing discussions to explore long-term options for cruise deployments.

The Port of Baltimore is on its way to full recovery following last year’s Key Bridge collapse, and the return of Carnival Cruise Lines last May marked a significant milestone. Carnival has recently secured a five-year contract extension to continue operating out of Baltimore. Scher highlighted that the Port served over 444,000 passengers last year, marking their third-highest total ever, and is expected to welcome Aida and Crystal cruise lines next year.

The Port of Baltimore’s strategic location off Interstate 95 makes it an attractive starting point for cruisers from Maryland and neighboring states.
