Clydebuilt Unveils Ambitious New Residential Ship Project

Clydebuilt has unveiled plans for an innovative residential ship named the Dark Island. Established by a team of experienced executives with a background in global shipyards, offshore projects, and design engineering, Clydebuilt aims to rejuvenate opportunities in the Clyde region of Scotland.

The Dark Island is envisioned as an embodiment of elegance and timeless design, with its maiden voyage set for early 2028. Currently in the production-ready stage, the ship will feature 236 suites and span 228 meters in length. The design, carried out in collaboration with London-based designer Evan K. Marshall, seeks to evoke the grandeur of historic cruise liners while maintaining a contemporary edge.

Public areas aboard the vessel will include a ten-deck atrium, three distinct restaurants, and a spacious spa, alongside multiple amenities such as sunbathing spaces, a putting green, a theater, a pool deck, a media center, and a library. Additionally, the Dark Island will be equipped with exploration vehicles for sea adventures.

Clydebuilt is committed to offering a luxurious onboard living experience, featuring one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites designed for comfort and safety, all with private sea-facing balconies. Suite sizes will range from 420 to 2,690 square feet, and the ship is designed to accommodate 724 guests, alongside a crew of 540.

The Dark Island emphasizes privacy and exclusivity for families and friends while promoting sustainability. Its design aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to minimize environmental impact.

The ship will initiate its services with a three-year “Around the World” cruise, along with "Voyages of Discovery" that retrace the journeys of renowned explorers like Columbus, Magellan, Drake, and Cook.
