A Busy Day at Kai Tak: Three Cruise Ships Dock at Hong Kong’s Terminal
On March 19, 2025, Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal reached a significant milestone by hosting three large cruise ships from two different lines simultaneously for the first time at its two berths. The vessels included Cunard’s Queen Anne and Queen Elizabeth, along with NCL’s Norwegian Sky, together bringing over 10,000 passengers and crew to the city.
The Queen Anne arrived on March 18 for its inaugural visit to Hong Kong and stayed overnight. The following day, both the Queen Elizabeth and Norwegian Sky made transit calls, with the latter also marking its first appearance at the port.
Jeff Bent, managing director of Worldwide Cruise Terminals, expressed excitement over welcoming three magnificent ships from two different cruise lines on the same day. He emphasized that this event attracted diverse source markets, showcasing the appeal of Hong Kong and the terminal’s capability in managing varied operations efficiently.
Looking ahead, the terminal expects a rise in cruise calls in 2025, including seven inaugural visits. Notably, three of these inaugural calls happened within the first quarter of the year: Astro Ocean’s Piano Land in January, followed by the Queen Anne and Norwegian Sky in March.
This event highlights Hong Kong’s emerging status as a prominent destination within the global cruise industry, emphasizing the city’s strategic initiatives to bolster its maritime tourism sector.
