Atlantic Canada Gears Up for a Record-Breaking Cruise Season in 2025

Atlantic Canada is gearing up for its longest-ever cruise season in 2025, running from early March to late November. The region expects to welcome approximately 736,500 cruise passengers across various ports.

The season commenced on March 10 with the arrival of Ponant’s ship Le Commandant Charcot at Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, which is scheduled to host 23 ship calls and bring over 31,000 visitors. Halifax, Nova Scotia, will kick off its cruise season on April 4 with Viking Ocean’s Viking Polaris and wrap up in November with AIDA’s AIDAdiva, anticipating 188 ship calls that will accommodate around 328,000 passengers.

Saint John, New Brunswick, expects 78 cruise calls and approximately 180,000 guests, while Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, is set to receive 79 calls, including seven inaugural visits, attracting an estimated 129,500 passengers. Sydney, Nova Scotia, will see about 230,000 passengers across 110 cruise calls, enticing visitors with opportunities to experience Cape Breton Island’s rich history and culture.

The 2025 season will also welcome several new companies and vessels, including Virgin Voyages, which will debut with the Brilliant Lady calling at both Saint John and Halifax. Other inaugural ship visits will include Oceania’s Allura, Celebrity Silhouette, and others.

Additionally, Halifax will host the Cruise Canada New England Symposium from June 9-11, gathering over 150 cruise industry professionals to discuss strategies for promoting regional cruise tourism.
