HAL-Holland America Cancels Select Transatlantic Cruises on the ms Nieuw Statendam

HAL-Holland America has announced the cancellation of two Transatlantic voyages aboard the ms Nieuw Statendam, originally set for October 2026. The cancellations affect a 29-day cruise departing from Rotterdam on October 17 and a 15-day voyage leaving on October 31. Details regarding the exact reasons for these cancellations remain unspecified.

The canceled cruises included scheduled stops at several ports, such as Zeebrugge (Belgium), Portsmouth (England), Cherbourg, Brest (France), and Falmouth (England). The 29-day itinerary also planned additional visits to various Norwegian ports, including Alesund, Trondheim, Tromso, Gravdal, Alta, Andalsnes, Bergen, and Lerwick in the Shetland Isles.

Despite these cancellations, other scheduled voyages aboard the ms Nieuw Statendam will proceed as planned. Notably, the 14-night "Arctic Journey Northern Lights With History Channel" cruise, also departing from Rotterdam on October 17, remains unaffected.

Passengers impacted by the cancellations have begun receiving email notifications and have shared concerns regarding the minimal compensation offered—reportedly a credit of $50 per person for rebooking—which has led to dissatisfaction among some guests.

As of now, Holland America Line has not provided an official statement regarding either the reasons behind the cancellations or the concerns expressed by passengers.
