AIDAdiva’s Transformation: Embracing Modernization Through the AIDA Evolution Program

AIDA Cruises has marked a significant milestone with the completion of the extensive modernization of the AIDAdiva, as part of the AIDA Evolution program. This renovation took place during a thorough seven-week dry dock at the Chantier Naval Shipyard in Marseille, France, from February 3 to March 21, 2025. The project included around 300 major updates, with contributions from thousands of shipyard workers and over 170 different fit-out companies.

Among the improvements, all guest cabins received significant enhancements—featuring new canopies, carpets, curtains, and refreshed color schemes. Balcony cabins were upgraded with new furniture, while select cabins were redesigned to accommodate families, with six new spacious family-friendly suites constructed at the stern. These suites boast private sun decks and a combination of living and sleeping areas, allowing for occupancy of up to five guests.

Public areas across decks 9, 10, and 11 saw extensive redesigns. New dining options have been added, including the French Kiss restaurant, East Fusion for Asian cuisine, the Tapas Bar for Spanish snacks, and the Yachtclub Restaurant specializing in maritime fare. Additionally, multiple new bars were introduced, and the Theatrium received modernized seating and upgraded audio-visual technology.

The spa underwent a complete renovation, introducing wellness suites, a redesigned hair spa, and a new nail spa. A fun park was created on deck 14, featuring a climbing tower, slide, and interactive caves, along with a redesigned Kids Club for younger guests.

Sustainability measures were also a focus during the overhaul, with the repurposing of carpet, the installation of recyclable materials, and new energy-efficient systems. A reverse osmosis system was added for freshwater production, and a Solid Waste Processor was installed to significantly reduce waste volume. The hull received an application of biocide-free paint to decrease friction, and the IT infrastructure was extensively upgraded.

AIDAdiva celebrated its return to service with a special premiere cruise from March 23 to 30, 2025, highlighted by an exclusive concert. Following this event, the ship will operate various itineraries from Rome along the Italian coast and Malta, before heading to its summer cruise destinations in the Baltic Sea and Norway. Notably, AIDAdiva will embark on its inaugural world cruise starting November 10, 2025, visiting five continents and 27 countries with the unique addition of including both the east and west coasts of the USA and Japan in its itinerary, celebrating New Year’s Eve in Hawaii.
