HAL-Holland America Cancels Two Transatlantic Cruises on the MS Nieuw Statendam Ship
HAL-Holland America Line has announced the cancellation of two Transatlantic voyages on the ms Nieuw Statendam, originally set for October 2026. The first cruise, a 29-day journey departing from Rotterdam on October 17, and the second, a shorter 15-day voyage leaving on October 31, are both affected. The company has not clarified the reasons behind these cancellations.
The itineraries for these cruises included several important stops, such as Zeebrugge in Belgium, Portsmouth in England, Cherbourg, Brest in France, and Falmouth in England. The longer voyage also included additional destinations in Norway, including Ålesund, Trondheim, Tromsø, Gravdal, Alta, Åndalsnes, Bergen, and Lerwick in the Shetland Isles.
Despite these cancellations, not all plans related to the ms Nieuw Statendam have changed; a 14-night Arctic Journey, also departing from Rotterdam on October 17, remains scheduled as originally planned.
Passengers have been contacted via email regarding the cancellations and expressed concerns regarding the compensation provided. Reports suggest a credit of $50 per person has been proposed for rebooking, leading to dissatisfaction among some travelers. At this time, Holland America Line has not issued a formal statement addressing the cancellation reasons or the complaints from affected guests.
