AIDAdiva Completes AIDA Evolution Drydock Refit and Refurbishment: A New Era for the Iconic Cruise Ship
AIDA Cruises has marked a significant milestone in its Evolution program with the completion of an extensive modernization of the AIDAdiva. The ship underwent a comprehensive seven-week dry dock at the Chantier Naval Shipyard in Marseille, France, from February 3 to March 21, 2025. This ambitious project included approximately 300 major initiatives, engaging thousands of shipyard workers and specialists from more than 170 fit-out companies, along with the ship’s crew.
The modernization included extensive renovations across all guest cabins, which now feature new canopies, carpets, curtains, and updated color schemes in bright, modern tones. Balcony cabins received new furniture, and select cabins were redesigned to host up to four guests, catering specifically to families. At the stern, six new spacious family suites were constructed, each featuring private sun decks, distinct living and sleeping areas, and capacity for up to five guests. Suite guests will also enjoy exclusive access to retreats like the Sky Deck and the Rossini Lounge.
Public areas across decks 9, 10, and 11 experienced extensive redesigns with the introduction of various dining venues: French Kiss (restaurant and bar), East Fusion (Asian cuisine), the Tapas Bar, and the Yachtclub Restaurant. Additional bars such as the Panorama Bar, Ice Bar, Tokyo Bar, and Lanai Bar were also added.
The Theatrium received a revamped seating arrangement, redesigned color scheme, and advanced sound, lighting, and stage technology. The wellness complex was fully renovated, introducing two new wellness suites with private whirlpools, saunas, and waterbeds, as well as a reimagined hair spa that now includes nail services.
A fun park was established on deck 14, featuring a climbing tower, slide, and interactive caves, while the Kids Club received enhancements to improve the experience for younger guests.
Significant technical and sustainability advancements were made, including the recycling of over 45,700 m² of carpeting, the installation of a reverse osmosis system for efficient freshwater production, and an innovative Solid Waste Processor that reduces waste volume by up to 95%. Eco-friendly measures such as biocide-free paint for the underwater hull and energy-efficient LED lighting systems were also implemented.
AIDAdiva made her return to service with a special premiere cruise from March 23 to 30, 2025, featuring an exclusive concert by artist Clueso. The ship will then operate itineraries from Rome/Civitavecchia along the Italian coast and Malta, visiting destinations like Valletta, Syracuse, Catania, Palermo, Naples, and Olbia.
Starting November 10, 2025, AIDAdiva will embark on her first world cruise, spanning 133 days and covering five continents and 27 countries, including a celebration of New Year’s Eve in Hawaii.
