Refurbished Celestyal Discovery Unveils Exciting New Suite Categories and Dining Experiences

The Celestyal Discovery has officially resumed operations after a significant refurbishment that took place in Athens over the winter. The ship, which can accommodate 1,360 passengers, started its 2025 sailing schedule on March 21 with a three-night cruise titled "Iconic Greek Islands," departing from Athens (Piraeus). The itinerary included a stop at Santorini on March 23, marking the first arrival of a cruise ship since local authorities lifted temporary restrictions.

The refurbishment brought the introduction of 47 new cabins, raising the ship’s capacity by 7.4%. Among these are 32 upgraded suites, increasing premium accommodation by 52%, and 15 new interior "Cosmos Cabins." The different suite options include:

• Junior Dream Suites: 30 suites, approximately 25 square meters each, featuring balconies of up to 5.6 square meters.
• Grand Horizon Suites: 2 luxury suites located above the bridge, each about 42 square meters with separate living areas and large balconies measuring 15.5 square meters.

In addition to the expanded accommodations, a new restaurant called "Smoked Olive" has been introduced, designed to serve suite guests with complimentary meals and select à la carte options for an extra charge. Later in the season, the "Grill Seekers" pop-up restaurant will debut, offering exclusive dining experiences with specialized regional cuisine inspired by the cruise’s itinerary.

Since acquiring the Celestyal Discovery in November 2023, Celestyal Cruises has made substantial investments to enhance the ship. Initial upgrades included redesigning public spaces, refurbishing cabins, and adding new dining venues such as Café Nation, the Pizza Oven, and a Greek Deli by the poolside.
