AIDA Donates Furniture from AIDAdiva: A Gesture of Generosity and Sustainability

AIDA Cruises recently donated over 4,400 pieces of furniture from the AIDAdiva following its drydock period at the Chantier Naval shipyard in Marseille, which lasted from February 3 to March 22, 2025. This donation was part of AIDA’s Evolution program, where furniture items, including armchairs, chairs, and stools from various onboard venues, were replaced with new furnishings.

The recipient of this generous donation is Der Hafen Hilft!, a charitable organization based in Hamburg that facilitates the distribution of in-kind donations to organizations and individuals in need. AIDA Cruises has partnered with this non-profit since 2023 and has been extending its support across its fleet.

Marc Spingler, AIDA’s director of hotel maintenance dry docks and refit, shared that the transition occurred in three phases during the drydock. The organization will transport the donated furniture to locations including Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, where it will be utilized in places that urgently require essential furnishings.

In addition to aiding Ukrainian Civil Defense, the donated furnishings benefited the Reso Center for disadvantaged animals, where they helped establish a donation café with a lounge area. Additionally, donations were made to the German Red Cross in Büchen and the SOS Children’s Villages.

AIDA expressed its intention to further enhance its cooperation with Der Hafen Hilft! in future evolution projects to continue supporting sustainability initiatives.
