Norwegian Aqua Embarks on Successful Maiden Voyage in Southampton

Norwegian Cruise Line recently celebrated the successful completion of the maiden voyage for its new ship, the Norwegian Aqua. Delivered earlier in March by the Fincantieri shipyard, the vessel embarked from Lisbon, Portugal, to Southampton, England, with over 2,000 invited guests onboard.

David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, described the event as a significant milestone. He emphasized that the ship is designed to offer guests an enhanced experience with more space, various thrills, diverse culinary options, and immersive entertainment. The inaugural cruise not only showcased the ship’s modern innovations but also provided an exclusive opportunity for travel partners to preview Norwegian Aqua’s capabilities, aligning with the brand’s vision to provide an unforgettable experience at sea.

Following its maiden voyage, Norwegian Aqua is scheduled for a trans-Atlantic journey to the United States, where it will be officially christened in Miami on April 13, 2025. The ceremony will feature Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet as the ship’s godfather.

After the christening, Norwegian Aqua will operate from Miami and Port Canaveral, as well as New York City, offering various itineraries to destinations in the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Bermuda until March 2027. Norwegian Aqua is the second vessel in the Prima Plus Class, with the next ship, Norwegian Luna, expected to enter service in 2026.
