£6M Investment Transforms Port Dover’s Cruise Berths: A Major Upgrade!

The Port of Dover, located in England, has recently completed a significant upgrade to its mooring facilities at two dedicated cruise berths, with an investment of £6 million. This enhancement is part of a wider expansion initiative aimed at accommodating some of the world’s largest cruise liners at the port in the coming years, aligning with Dover’s strategic vision leading up to 2050.

Peter Wright, Head of Cruise at the Port, expressed enthusiasm for this achievement, underscoring Dover’s dedication to becoming a leading cruise destination in the UK. He thanked the engineering and operations teams for their successful completion of the project.

As the 2025 cruise season is now underway, Wright noted the increasing variety of ships arriving, bringing thousands of visitors to the city weekly, especially during peak times. He assured that Dover’s strategic plan for the cruise sector would not only bolster the port’s standing in the industry but also yield substantial economic benefits for the surrounding areas.

Sonia Limbrick, who heads Business Development for Cruise at the Port, pointed out Dover’s distinctive attractiveness to cruise travelers, highlighting its rich history and cultural offerings, along with a reputation for exceptional service. She emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with cruise operators to ensure that Dover remains a favored stop on global cruise itineraries.

The team from the Port is scheduled to showcase these recent developments at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami, Florida, from April 7th to 10th, and will be present at stand 2013 to discuss the future of Dover in the cruise industry.
