Port Southampton Sees Strong Cruise Activity in Early 2025: A Promising Start to the Year
The Port of Southampton has showcased impressive cruise activity in early 2025, building upon a successful 2024. Its state-of-the-art shore power capabilities and recognition as a leading cruise destination allow for the year-round accommodation of vessels. In January, various cruise lines launched lengthy world cruises, while well-known brands like AIDA, P&O, MSC, Princess Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line continued to dock at the port. March witnessed the arrival of 18 cruise ships, with preparations in place for an eventful April that promises a five-ship day.
A highlight of this period was the inaugural visit of the Norwegian Aqua, which celebrated its first voyage at Southampton. The ship was equipped for shore power, promoting zero emissions during docking. This Prima Plus-class vessel can host over 3,000 guests and offers exciting features such as the Aqua Slidecoaster and the Glow Court sports complex. Southampton’s strong cruise trends set the stage for participation in the upcoming Seatrade Cruise Global exhibition in Miami from April 7-10, marking its 40th anniversary, where ABP Southampton will be represented.
Strategically located, Southampton provides excellent connectivity through sea, land, and air transportation, making it a convenient point of departure for cruise itineraries to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and beyond.
