BIRKA GOTLAND Marks One Year Anniversary with Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic

Swedish pleasure cruiser BIRKA GOTLAND has successfully celebrated its first anniversary, achieving significant milestones during its inaugural year. The ship has visited seven Baltic Sea ports and transported over 532,000 passengers, while also enhancing its offerings to cater to the Swedish market.

After a substantial upgrade costing SEK 70 million (approximately US$7 million), which included a revamped spa and improvements to the Terrace on deck 10, BIRKA GOTLAND has fine-tuned its onboard concepts to better meet the expectations of Swedish travellers. CEO Kenneth Gustavsson emphasized the company’s commitment to continuously enhance the cruise experience in Sweden, with ongoing improvements in food, entertainment, retail, and relaxation.

The ship is already experiencing a 30% increase in bookings for the May to June period compared to the previous year. In addition to its main routes connecting Stockholm, Åland, and Visby, BIRKA GOTLAND has added destinations such as the High Coast, Ystad, Bornholm, and Riga. The upcoming summer season in 2025 promises a blend of shorter and longer itineraries throughout the Baltic Sea.
